Uplift package for Attock soon: PM

ISLAMABAD, Jan 23: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday said he would soon announce an elaborate development programme for the Attock district.

Talking to a delegation from Fateh jang, headed by Chairman Public Accounts Committee MNA Malik Allah Yar Khan, Mr Aziz said the government believed in practical measures for socio- economic uplift of the masses.

He said the government was making sincere efforts to improve the living standard of the poor. The prime minister said agricultural and industrial sectors had recorded progress and the volume of local and foreign investment had increased.

He said efforts were being made to improve the working of police and the judiciary, and a number of bills would be tabled during the forthcoming session of the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, talking to another delegation headed by Hasanabdal Tehsil Nazim Shawez Khan, the prime minister said provision of education and healthcare facilities to the poor was the top priority of the government.

He said the country was short of skilled manpower and vocational training institutions were being established to educate and equip the people with technical skills. He said filtration plants were being set up in each district to provide clean drinking water to the masses. -APP
