ISLAMABAD, Jan 23: A delegation of South Asia Free Media Association (Safma) called on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz at the Prime Minister's House here on Sunday and discussed with him matters relating to upcoming Saarc summit.

The prime minister said that Saarc countries should facilitate free movement of the journalists that would act as a bridge to bring the peoples of member states closer and enhance people-to-people contact. Safma could play an important role in making the Saarc forum more vibrant and efficient, he stressed.

The delegation urged the prime minister to play his role as Saarc chairman in persuading the member countries during the forthcoming Dhaka summit, to consider visa relaxations for journalists in the South Asian region.

They hoped that the association would become more efficient, with frequent visits and would help in understanding the culture, traditions and aspirations of the peoples of the member countries. -APP
