OKARA: Musharraf due in Okara

OKARA, Jan 23: President Pervez Musharraf will visit Okara on Jan 29 on the invitation of Defence Minister Rao Sikander Iqbal. The president will address a big public gathering at sports stadium near District Courts complex, it is learnt.

The provincial government has cancelled holidays of its employees while the central and provincial government departments have started making arrangements in this regard. District Nazim Sajjad Haider, DCO Syed Iftikhar Hussain Babar and DPO Syed Zafar are supervizing these arrangements.

SHOT DEAD: A rickshaw driver was shot dead on resistance by three robbers on Sunday near Hussaingarh. Three men hired the rickshaw (LRJ-1268) to go to Hussaingarh, Okara district.

Near their destination, the three passengers whipped out their weapons and asked the driver to surrender his vehicle. For holding them out, the armed men opened fire on the driver, killing him instantly.
