SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 23: District Naib Nazim Maj Muhammad Zahid Yasin (retired) died of cardiac arrest in a Lahore hospital on Saturday. He was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard here.
His funeral was attended by a large number of politicians, government officials and his relatives. He also elected to the Punjab Assembly as an independent candidate from Shahkot in 1985.
KILLED: A man was killed while his wife sustained serious injuries in a robbery in Jhangar Lal Wala village, Warburton, some 40 kilometres from here, on Saturday night.
Police said two robbers, later identified as Azam and Anwar, barged into the house of Haji Rai Sajabat Ali. They shot and killed him when he put up resistance. The robbers injured his wife Kalsoom when she came to her husband's rescue.
