HYDERABAD, Jan 23: Senior Member Sindh Board of Revenue Mirza Karim Baig has directed revenue officials to identify government land for setting up new villages for homeless and needy people.

At a meeting of officials from Sukkur and Ghotki districts, Mr Baig called upon them to issue bills after due assessment and send notices to agriculture taxpayers in case of no response.

He directed the officials to furnish report of recovery by fifth of every month and take legal action against defaulters. He urged DDOs revenue to identify indifferent and incompetent Tapedars and Mukhtiarkars to avoid negligence and delay in depositing taxes.

He said the inspection committee was being constituted to oversee performance of the revenue officers. Mr Baig directed them to accelerate pace of work of computerization of revenue records so that its inauguration ceremony could take place in time. He called upon them to pay surprise visits in the field so that work of revenue collection could be ensured. -APP
