PESHAWAR: Construction of roads in Fata


PESHAWAR, Jan 23: Construction of 1,020 kilometres of roads was in progress in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas to link the interior tribal areas with main roads in the tribal agencies.

Official sources in the Governor's Secretariat Fata told APP on Saturday that the project would be completed at a cost of Rs2,700 million. The construction includes 104km-long roads in Bajaur Agency, 107km roads in Mohmand Agency, 103km in Khyber Agency and 224km in South and North Waziristan agencies.

So far, 432km roads have been completed in the tribal areas and Rs642 million are being spent during the current fiscal year on the road construction projects.

Similarly, Pakistan army is also constructing 316km roads in the tribal areas at a cost of Rs156 million. On completion, the road projects would improve communication facilities in the tribal areas, which would help accelerate the pace of development in Fata. -APP
