KHAIRPUR, Jan 20: Police have booked 107 people who held a protest demonstration against the arrest of a woman and her two daughters in Pir-jo-Goth on Wednesday evening.

The Pir-Jo-Goth police station SHO stated in the FIR that the residents blocked the Khairpur-Pir-jo-Goth road near the Rashidi Gate and injured police constable Pir Bux Shar when police tried to clear the road.

Those booked included Haji Allah Wasayo, Hatim, Hakim Ali, Qalandar Bux, Ghulam Bozdar, Mashooq, Makoro, Naveed, Shahid, Waheed, Yasin, Khadim Hussain, Gulab, Hadi Bux, Mukhtiar and Lutuf Ali.

Area residents, led by Kando Bozdar, Haji Allah Wasayo and Lutuf Ali, told journalists here on Thursday that police on Wednesday evening entered the house of one Hakim Ali Arejo in the Dainal Shah locality and arrested Habiba Arejo and her two daughters, Saima and Saiqa.

They also accused police of baton-charging the protesting residents, injuring Ghulam Bozdar, Naeem, Mashooq, Shahid and Qalandar Bux alias Kando Bozdar. They said police had registered a fake case against the residents.

They demanded registration of a case against police.

Later, the villagers' delegation met DPO Imran Yaqub and apprised him of the situation.

Reports said some armed men had injured a villager, Arbelo Kanhar, on the Khairpur-Ahmadpur road and deprived him of his motorbike. After the incident, police raided the house of Hakim Arejo but since the suspect was not present, police arrested his wife and two daughters.
