KARACHI, Jan 20: Sindh Inspector-General Syed Kamal Shah has ordered the police to remain on red alert and take extraordinary security measures during Eid-ul-Azha.
An official statement here on Thursday said that a good number of police personnel, levies and civies would be deployed at and around mosques, imambargahs, Eidgahs and other open places where Eidul Azha and Friday prayers would be offered.
For this purpose, fenders and vehicles would also be kept at certain distance from these worship places and gatherings.
The IG has urged the administrative committees of mosques and imambargahs to properly brief their activists/volunteers so that they could play a more effective role in checking all kind of suspicious activities in and around.
He also called for maintenance of code of ethics regarding Eidul Azha wherein only registered societies would be allowed to collect hides. However, this collection would not be allowed through setting up camps, placing posters and banners or distributing handbills, and using loudspeakers from vehicles, mosques and madaris.- APP
