ISLAMABAD, Jan 19: The Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) members have submitted another adjournment motion to the National Assembly Secretariat on Balochistan situation seeking discussion on a recent incident of rocket attack on an FC camp in Mach.

According to ARD parliamentary secretary Izhar Amrohvi, the adjournment motion has been submitted under Rule 92 of the Rules and Procedure for Conduct of Business in the National Assembly 1992 and it has been signed by 11 members of the People's Party Parliamentarians (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N).

The motion states: "According to press reports, a Frontier Constabulary (FC) camp was attacked with rockets near Mach in Balochistan on January 17. The writ of the government has failed resulting in adverse situation of law and order in the province despite assurances by the regime that the security of the area had been made foolproof.

This incident has caused grave concern among the general public and particularly the people of Balochistan. This is a serious matter and needs discussion on the floor of the house adjourning the business of the National Assembly to eradicate and avoid such an incident which seems to be political."

The motion has been signed by Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Sherry Rehman, Fauzia Wahab, Khalid Iqbal Memon, Nahid Khan, Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah, Ghulam Murtaza Satti and Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari of the PPP and Khwaja Saad Rafiq and Khawaja Mohammad Asif of the PML-N.

Talking to Dawn, Mr Amrohvi said the ARD was also considering to move an adjournment motion on the decision of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet to allow an additional import of 50,000 tons of raw sugar. He said the ECC had reportedly agreed to consider import of refined sugar after Eidul Azha.

He said the decision to import sugar due to below expectation production of sugarcane in the country showed that the government had failed to improve agriculture sector in the country.
