LARKANA, Jan 18: The ministerial committee on the Qambar incident, visited houses of four deceased persons in Qambar and handed over cheques for Rs200,000 for each victim.

Those who received the cheques include Sughra, widow of school teacher Ali Madad Magsi, Abbas Buriro, father of Riaz Ali, Allah Dino Tunio, father of Abdul Fatah and Anwar Khanzado, father of Nasir Ali.

Members of the committee also visited Dargah of Saaeen Hussain Shah Bukhari in Hussainabad area of the town and met him. Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for Irrigation Nadir Akmal Leghari said differences had been created among brothers of Shahdadkot and Qambar on the issue of district.

He was addressing people's gatherings in Warah and Mirokhan on Tuesday. He said the Sindh chief minister would visit the area after Eid and announce development package.

He appealed to people of Warah, Mirokhan, Qambar and Shahdadkot to burry hatred and create a congenial atmosphere. He said the government had ordered a judicial inquiry in the Qambar tragedy and a high-powered police inquiry under the supervision of senior police official Asad Jehangir.

He said after receiving reports action would be taken against persons found involved in the incident. He said the Sindh government had created districts aiming at to provide basic facilities to people at their doorstep.

He said all out efforts were being made to effectively address the problems of unemployment, law and order situation and provision of irrigation water in Sindh. He said decision regarding renaming or maintaining the status quo would be taken in the interest of people of the new district.

Sindh Minister Dr Sohrab Sarki, Qambar Taluka Nazim Sardar Khan Chandio, UC Warah Nazim Manzoor Marfani, Ali Sher Daipar, Altaf Tunio, Malook Shah and Noor Ahmed Brohi also spoke on the occasion.

In resolutions, it was demanded to arrest the killers of four innocent persons. The FIR registered against Sardar Khan Chandio and 200 others should be withdrawn while the new district should be renamed as Qambar. Meanwhile, the PPP and the Citizens Action Committee continued their protest on Tuesday.
