LAHORE: Govt has nothing to do with LPC attack: Raja

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Jan 18: Law minister Raja Basharat told the house on Tuesday that the attack on the Lahore Press Club was an issue between journalists and a student organization and the government had nothing to do with it.

The government was, however, with the journalists and would provide them all possible help in the case, he said while responding to a point of order raised by deputy opposition leader Rana Sanaullah Khan after the journalists walked out of the Press Gallery to protest the government's apathy towards the issue. The minister said a meeting with the LPC president was scheduled at 2pm (Tuesday) to discuss way and means to solve the issue.

NEW SCHEME: The government is considering a new scheme to checking growth of wild boar in Chakwal and other areas. Agriculture minister Arshad Lodhi told the house that cash prizes would be offered for killing wild boars. He was responding to a supplementary query.

On a written question, he said as mountain gorges were habitat of wild boar, these were found in abundance in Chakwal district. He said there was no proposal to award a contract to a foreign country for eliminating the animal destroying crops of corn and groundnuts.
