KARACHI: 13 PhD degrees granted

KARACHI, Jan 18: The Board of Advance Studies and Research, University of Karachi, has approved grant of PhD degrees to 13 candidates, said the varsity spokesman on Tuesday.

Since the KU Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim, has gone to Saudi Arabia, the meeting was chaired by professor emeritus, Dr Riaz ul Islam.

Candidates who have been declared eligible for the PhD degrees include: Sumaira Bashir (Urdu), Saeeda Nargis Waqar (Zoology), Rizwana Sabri (Chemistry), Ehsan Ali (Arabic), M Kashif Pervez (Chemistry HEJ), Farida Feroze (Chemistry HEJ), Syed Ghulam Musharraf (Chemistry HEJ), Farhat Aziz (Microbiology), Najma Farman (Social Work), Farzana Parveen (Zoology), Dr Sibghatullah Sangi (Pharmacology), Naila Butt (Botany), and Mazhar Ali Khan (Urdu).

Five candidates have also been declared eligible for MPhil degrees. Meanwhile, the meeting also approved the admission of 16 candidates to pursue PhD studies.

PRACTICALS: The BA/BSc (Pass) first and second year annual Psychology practical examinations 2005 will commence on Feb 1 at respective colleges, said the University of Karachi on Tuesday.

Candidates have been directed to contact their college principals for the exam programmes. They have also been asked to bring with them Psychology practical journals duly certified by their course in-charges. - APP
