ISLAMABAD, Jan 17: A special committee for the development of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Complex is to meet here on Jan 25 to discuss a host of matters.

The committee, constituted by President of PTF Syed Dilawar Abbas, will approve the development plan and the procedures for award of tenders and contracts - the two key items on the agenda.

All members of the committee - Air Marshal (Retd) Shahid Hamid, Brig Khalid Sajjad Khokhar, Sher Khan, Iqtidar Shah, Sikandar Ajam, secretary of PTF Rashid Khan and treasurer Arif Qureshi are to attend the meeting.

The cash-strapped PTF suddenly found its coffers overflowing with money after Punjab chief minister Pervez Ilahi donated Rs 5 million while former Prime Minister Ch. Shujaat Hussain announced Rs 10 million after laying the foundation stone of the complex in August.

The sprawling PTF Complex covers an area of 10 acres and once completed would become the hub of tennis activity in Islamabad. With Rs 15 million now in its kitty, the PTF hopes to have the tennis side of the complex completed which would comprise seven courts including two centre courts, as many lounges, changing rooms and an extension of the existing players hostel.

Dilawar had said recently that it was his priority to see through the completion of the complex which would also help the federation save on money it has to dish out each time it organises a major tournament at the Islamabad Club.
