Motion on Pakistanis' deaths filed in NA

ISLAMABAD, Jan 17: The Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) members have submitted an adjournment motion to the National Assembly Secretariat over the killing of Pakistanis by security forces in Greece and Turkey.
According to ARD Parliamentary Secretary Izhar Amrohvi, the motion has been filed under Rule 92 of the Rules and Procedure for Conduct of Business in the National Assembly 1992 and it has been signed by seven members of the People's Party Parliamentarians (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N).
The motion states: "It has been reported that more than 9,000 illegal Pakistani immigrants have been killed by the border security forces in Greece and Turkey in the past 10 years.
The press report is very alarming and has created a grave concern among the public. It shows that the government has failed to take any precautionary step to protect the Pakistani citizens."
The motion has been signed by Syed Naveed Qamar, Syed Khurshid Shah, Chaudhry Qamaruz Zaman Kaira, Rukhsana Bangash, Raja Pervez Ashraf and Sherry Rehman of the PPP and Maimoona Hashmi of the PML-N.
Meanwhile, nine members of the ARD have also filed an adjournment motion over the decision of the Kuwaiti government not to issue visas to Pakistani nationals. The motion states: "It has been reported that Pakistani nationals will not get work, visit or family visas for Kuwait under a decision effective from January 8, 2005, without giving any reason.
The action on the part of the government of Kuwait cannot be termed friendly and the issue needs discussion on the floor of the house adjourning the normal proceedings."
The motion has been signed by Raja Pervez Ashraf, Dr Fahmida Mirza, Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Naheed Khan, Sherry Rehman, Nawab Mohammad Yousuf Talpur and Syed Naveed Qamar of the PPP and Pervez Malik and Khwaja Asif of the PML-N.
GILGIT INCIDENT: The PPP members have also submitted an adjournment motion to the National Assembly seeking a debate on the incidents in Gilgit and Skardu after the death of a religious leader Agha Ziauddin.
The motion, signed by eight members, states: "Agha Ziauddin, a highly respected religious leader, died in the CMH, Rawalpindi. He was attacked by some persons in Gilgit and received serious injuries.
Thereafter violence broke out and curfew was imposed. Later, when the news of the death reached Skardu on January 13, the people of whole Baltistan came out on streets to protest the incident. The administration failed to maintain peace, law and order in the area causing grave concern among the public.
