LAHORE, Jan 17: President of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz group) Shabaz Sharif left Jeddah for the United States, a television report said on Monday.

It said that both the Saudi and Pakistani governments had allowed Mr Shahbaz to proceed abroad.

Party sources said that Mr Shahbaz had sought permission from the Saudi government to allow him to travel to the US for a medical check-up which was due in the last week of December.
