MMA's struggle to bear fruit: Qazi
By Staff Reporter
LAHORE, Jan 16: MMA President Qazi Husain Ahmad says the religious alliance's movement against the incumbent rulers will be taken to its logical end after Haj.
Speaking to the central consultative body of the women wing of the Jamaat-i-Islami here before his departure for Haj, he said the rulers were bent upon prolonging their reign ignoring the constitution and parliament.
He said the religious parties had always believed in peaceful struggle for changing the tide of the anti-masses policies of rulers. The Qazi, who is the JI amir, said western civilization and the Hindu way of life were being promoted in the country.
Despite material progress, western societies were suffering from frustration and stress as their family unit had disintegrated, he added. The government, he said, was out to uproot the values which served as a family bond in our society and appealed the west.
The MMA leader, who was satisfied with the performance of the women parliamentarians of the alliance, urged the consultative body members to dedicate themselves for the service of humanity and lend a helping hand in relief work for the destitute.
He said the Jamaat women should present their homes as role models while inviting others towards the party. Women wing secretary general Dr Kauser Firdaus, who is also a senator, said Gen Pervez Musharraf had unleashed a wave of terror against his country-fellows in the name of war against terror. The so-called philosophy of moderate Islam was being used to justify his brutal actions in Wana and elsewhere, she added.
