KARACHI: Manure made from offal

Published January 17, 2005

KARACHI, Jan 16: Natural manure worth Rs0.3 million was prepared from the offal procured during previous Eidul Azha and is now ready for use in parks of Gulshan-i-Iqbal town, according to the town's municipal administration.

The town's health officials had buried the offal at a selected site for the whole year to produce good quality manure in a quantity which otherwise would have cost it Rs300,000 if purchased from the market.

Town Nazim Abdul Wahab referred to the good management and orderly drive on the part of the administration and said that by conserving the offal, the cost of cleanliness campaign, offal disposal and making the town greener was reduced considerably. The money thus saved could now be used in other development projects, he said. -APP
