KARACHI: Constable kills man for Rs50

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 16: A man was killed and two others wounded in Pak Colony on Sunday when a policeman opened fire following a scuffle with a citizen.

Police said that two policemen, patrolling the area on a motorcycle, stopped a man near the Chaman cinema.

The man introduced himself as Nasir, a truck driver. The policemen allegedly demanded Rs50 from Nasir, who refused. His refusal led to an exchange of words, which provoked Saifullah, one of the policemen.

Saifullah grabbed the SMG rifle from his colleague and fired a single shot. The bullet hit three people including Nasir, 50, and two passers-by Farooq, 45, and Tahir. All injured were taken to hospital, where Farooq died.

KILLED: A music teacher was killed and his body thrown off the Lilly Bridge near the cantonment railway station in Artillery Maidan police limits. Police said Mohammad Shakil, 27, had gone missing from his home in Gulbahar on Saturday.
