KARACHI: IO directed to submit charge sheet
KARACHI, Jan 15: Justice Amir Hani Muslim of the Sindh High Court, who is also administrative judge of the Anti-Terrorism Courts in Karachi, on Saturday directed the investigation officer to submit charge-sheet against seven bandits
on Jan 25 in a police encounter and explosive substance case.
The investigation officer was scheduled to submit the charge sheet, but he requested further time to submit it. Iftekhar, Khalilur Rehman, Sajjad Ahmed, Fareed, Mohammad Ali and Babar were produced before the court. The police arrested them after a shootout on Jan 3 in Kalakot.
In the encounter, Shahnawaz alias Shani, a close associate of Rehman Dakait, was killed while Nazeer Balla, his accomplice, received injuries and was admitted to a hospital. Two policemen SHO Kalakot Shaukat Ali Shahani and Head Constable Manzoor Hasan had suffered bullet wounds.
Police said having learnt that the members of the Rehman Dacoit were present in the factory, for getting extortion from the businessman, the police party reached the spot, and an encounter took place. Seven TT pistols, grenades, a kalashnikov, and ammunition were recovered from the accused.
The accused were booked in Kalakot police station Karachi under section 353, 324, of PPC and section 3,4 of Explosive Substance Act with section 7 of Anti Terrorism Act.
SENT TO JAIL: An accused was sent to jail for allegedly kidnapping and killing his own nephew on Saturday. Mohammad Tariq was produced before Justice Amir Hani Muslim of the Sindh High Court who is also administrative judge of Anti-Terrorism Courts in Karachi by police after six days' police remand.
The AJ, remanding him to jail custody, directed the investigation officer of the case to submit charge sheet against him on Jan 25. Police said accused kidnapped his nephew Mohammad Siddique, 6, outside his house in Korangi on Jan 1 and demanded Rs1.5 million as ransom.
However, police arrested him on Saturday by tracing phone calls and during investigation, the accused disclosed that on failure to receive the ransom amount, he killed the boy three days later and buried his body in an empty plot. -PPI
