NAWABSHAH: Passengers robbed on highway

By Our Correspondent

NAWABSHAH, Jan 15: Passengers of a bus were robbed on the National Highway near Mir Khan Leghari village on Saturday. Five unidentified highwaymen forced a Jacobabad-bound commuter bus, coming from Karachi, to stop near the village. They beat up driver Raham Ali and looted the passengers.

The bandits also tried to stop another bus, but the driver sped away and informed the motorway police, who rushed to the scene. An encounter, lasting several minutes, took place between the two parties; following which, the robbers fled into the kutcha area.

GAS CONSUMERS: Gas consumers had to face great inconvenience here on Friday as gas supply was suspended several times in many parts of the city, including Society, Gharibabad, Essarpura, Manuabad, Sakrand Road, Police Lines and Mohni Bazaar.

When contacted, a SSGC official clarified that the suspension was not due to the situation in Sui, but because of maintenance work in progress in the Service Line area. The maintenance work, done on regular basis, had been completed, he added.

SNATCHED: Some unidentified armed men snatched a tractor from Liaquat Punjabi and Nadeem Ahmed in the Nusrat area near here on Saturday and escaped.
