LAHORE: Change in weather expected

LAHORE, Jan 15: The peak winter season has slipped by with a little chance of weather becoming biting after Jan 15 in the central and southern Punjab areas.

Chief Meteorologist Shaukat Awan said here on Saturday the peak winter time, which usually remains between Dec 25 and Jan 10, was already over.

"Sun has started changing its angle with radiation making days quite warm. It will be warmer in the days to come." He said even if the central and southern Punjab areas received rain there was little chance of chill. However, he said, there was no chance of rain during the next 24 hours.

He said December and January were are dry months of the year with quite low rainfall in this month. As the westerly system caused heavy downpour in the beginning of this month, he said, there was little chance of another such system hitting the region this month.

About fog, he said, it appeared only when minimum temperature was below 6 degrees Celsius, humidity above 80 per cent and there was no wind. -APP
