KARACHI: Early work on roads ordered

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 13: Advisor to Sindh chief minister on local government, Wasim Akhtar, has taken a strong notice of sufferings of the people owing to simultaneous construction work on three major and busy roads which has been resulting in traffic jams.

The advisor who visited under-construction Jehangir Road, Lasbella Road and Rashid Minhas Road, directed the officials concerned to ensure that all these roads are constructed within their stipulated time and to ensure unhindered flow of vehicular traffic.

He said that the officials should not initiate any new road construction work unless work on all those roads which are being constructed is completed. He also directed the officials concerned and contractors to work round-the-clock and even during Eid holidays to complete the work on roads.

Briefing the advisor, officials told him that though the Jehangir Road will be opened for light vehicles before Eid-ul-Azha, its carpeting would be completed in the first week of February. About the Lasbella-Nazimabad Road, he was informed that 40 per cent work had been completed and its carpeting work would be accomplished by Feb 17.
