LAHORE, Jan 10: The Punjab PPP executive committee at a meeting said here on Monday the party had no plan to make any electoral adjustment with the ruling PML at any stage and a statement made by a party leader on the subject did not reflect the party policy.

The PPP was a component of the ARD and any policy about electoral cooperation would be decided in consultation with other alliance leaders, the party's provincial information secretary told reporters at a briefing.

Naveed Chaudhry said in the presence of media adviser Iqbal Sialvi that no individual had the right to make any policy statement. The executive, he said, had recommended to chairperson Benazir Bhutto to take due notice of the matter.

The committee met at the party's Faisal Town office under the chairmanship of Qasim Zia. Mr Chaudhry said contrary to its claims the government had given no concessions to the PPP. The references, though baseless, were still being pursued.
