MIRPURKHAS, Jan 10: A group of disabled people took out a procession on tricycles here on Monday, demanding jobs in government departments under their two per cent quota.
They warned of committing self-immolation if they were not provided jobs. The procession was taken out from the railway station roundabout under the aegis of the Mirpurkhas Special Sports Welfare Association. Carrying banners and placards, the participants plied their tricycles on MA Jinnah and Hyderabad roads to reach the press club.
Speaking on the occasion, Lal Mohammad and Mehboob said that the disabled people were denied government jobs though they had required educational qualification.
They said that despite having made a promise, the Sindh chief minister had not taken measures to ensure provision of jobs to them. They claimed that normal people had been provided jobs in the district on their quota. They urged the authorities to provide them jobs and threatened otherwise they would be compelled to commit self-immolation.
