SIALKOT, Jan 10: Differences have surfaced between district Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid and Sialkot tehsil Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema on various political and development issues as both are openly criticizing each other in public meetings.

Addressing a tehsil council meeting, Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema criticized Mr Javaid for not releasing even a single penny to the council during the last three years for initiating development schemes due to some political differences.

Mr Cheema accused the district Nazim of awarding uplift contracts to his favourites. When contacted, district Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid strongly criticized the Sialkot tehsil council's performance regarding the solution of public problems.

He rejected the allegations levelled by Mr Akmal Cheema and said that the development funds were also being given to the tehsil council without any discrimination or favouritism.

Local politicians are of the view that the rift will be a setback to the ruling PML during the forthcoming local government polls. Inspector held: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Sunday arrested Inspector Waseem Dar for alleged corruption during his posting as SHO at the Uggoki police station and taking bribe from exporter Aslam Dar.

Meanwhile, on the orders of Additional District & Sessions Judge Nasir Ahmad Awan, the police have registered a case against the accused inspector, ASI Mushtaq Ahmad and head constable Arshad Bajwa for attacking the factory of local industrialist Shaikh Muhammad Anees during Waseem Dar's posting as SHO at Hajipura police station. The Muradpur police have registered a case against its ASI Mubarak Ali for misplacing the official record of various cases.
