MULTAN, Jan 9: The district council has passed a resolution demanding shifting of a plastic manufacturing factory from the New Multan (residential) area to either outside the city limits or in the industrial estate.

District council members Sehrish Khan and Shahid Jamal moved the resolution that the people in the New Multan were worried because of pollution the factory had been creating. The house also demanded initiation of the construction work immediately on the dual carriageway between Multan and Qadirpur Raan.

CBR: Central Board of Revenue Member (exports) Zafarul Hameed has urged the management of the Multan Dryport Trust to also pay attention towards more exports along with the imports of goods.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the new campus of MDPT on the Shershah road on Saturday. He assured the local business community that all the pending cases of duty drawbacks of MDPT would be decided very soon. The CBR official was informed by the MDPT management that the dry port handled transaction of about 400 containers daily.
