Musharraf hopeful of Japanese investment


RAWALPINDI, Jan 8: President General Pervez Musharraf said on Saturday that Pakistan offered attractive opportunities and a level playing field to both domestic and foreign investors.

The president stated this during a meeting with Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Shoichi Nakagawa who, heading a five-member delegation, called on him.

Gen Musharraf said Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Japan. He said such visits were important as they served to enhance the economic cooperation between the two countries.

He spoke of the measures taken for revival of the economy in Pakistan. He expressed the hope that the Japanese entrepreneurs and business concerns would avail of the opportunity to invest in Pakistan.

Mr Nakagawa thanked the president and the government for the hospitality being extended to him and members of the delegation.

Mr Nakagawa termed his talks with Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan as very beneficial and expressed the hope that his visit would lead to further enhancement of economic ties between the two countries.-APP
