SIALKOT: Sialkot Bar election on 10th

SIALKOT, Jan 6: Annual elections of the Sialkot District Bar Association (DBA) will be held on Jan 10 as the process of filing of nomination papers and their scrutiny was completed here on Thursday.
Two candidates Mahmood Ahmad Bhatti and Munawar Warraich submitted their papers for the office of president, while Malik Arif Awan and Rashid Sulehria for the seat of vice-presidents.
Malik Bashir Awan, Ali Najam Gilani and Faizullah will vie for the post of general secretary and Malik Abdul Muhaimin and Mirza Nadeem Baig for joint secretary. Sixteen candidates have filed papers for 10 seats of executive committee.
Interestingly, no candidate filed nomination papers for the posts of finance secretary, auditor and library secretary. DBA Election Board chairman told newsmen that the election schedule for the three offices would be announced after the election.
Meanwhile, in Narowal, Chaudhry Rafiq, Fateh Muhammad Khalid Sindhu and Riaz Ahamd submitted their nomination papers for the post of president and Rana Abdul Rahim and Sajjad Mohal for senior vice-president.
Fiaz Ahmad Goraya and Mian Ejaz Ahmad are running for vice-president ship, while Atiqur Rehman, Hamid Rasool Malhi and Asif Javaid filed papers for the post of general secretary.
Naeem Akhtar and Salim Gujjar will contest for the post of joint secretary and Rana Imtiaz and Riaz Ahmad submitted their papers for the seat of librarian. Meanwhile, Bashir Ahmad was elected unopposed as vice-president of Shakargarh Bar Association.
Chaudhry Roshan Din and Hasan Nizami submitted their papers for the office of president. Muhammad Abid, Imtiaz Ahmad, Muhammad Shakil and Farooq Bashir Noon will fight for the seat of general secretary. Ten members of Shakargarh Bar Association's executive committee were also elected unopposed.
COLD WEATHER: The entire Sialkot region is in grip of severe cold and thick fog, as sun has not shone for the last six days. Thick fog blanketed Sialkot and Narowal districts for almost the whole Thursday. Cold winds from Occupied Jammu and Kashmir made the weather freezing.
