Japanese minister due today

ISLAMABAD, Jan 6: Japanese Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry Shoichi Nakagawa will arrive here on Friday to discuss measures with his counterpart for increasing trade volume between the two countries.

An official announcement issued on Thursday said that during his two-day stay the Japanese minister will hold meetings with the president, prime minister and the commerce minister.

Both the sides will discuss ways to boost bilateral trade and investment. As regards the balance of trade between the two countries, it is in favour of Japan.

In year 2003-04, the total volume of trade between the two countries was $1,071.101 million, which constituted Pakistan's exports to Japan worth $134.770 million and imports from Japan worth $936.331 million.
