Country's premier ODI contest format released
KARACHI, Jan 5: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar M.Khan said that they were looking for lasting relationship with ABN-Amro Bank, country's domestic cricket sponsors.
He was speaking at the presentation ceremony of this year's premier One-day tournament held the other day. Insignia of various participating teams and format and other details were also part of the presentation ceremony.
PCB boss negated the impression that insignia created for various teams were not close to Pakistan culture. Sponsors' Naveed Khan said their bank was sponsoring soccer in the Netherlands, Grand Prix in Brazil and tennis in Europe and now they were sponsoring Pakistan domestic cricket.
All the eleven teams which featured in Quaid-i-Azam Trophy will be participating in the competition. Six teams are drawn in pool "A' and while there are five teams in pool "B".
Pool "A" comprises Lahore Lions, Peshawar Panthers, Karachi Zebras, Sialkot Stallions, Faisalabad Wolves and Rawalpindi Rams. Pool "B" has Karachi Dolphins, Lahore Eagles, Hyderabad Hawks, Multan Tigers and Quetta Bears.
Top two teams after league matches from each pool will progress to the semi finals which will be played at Lahore and Karachi on Jan 18 and 20 respectively.
Pool "A" matches will be played at Lahore, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Peshawar while Karachi and Hyderabad will host pool "B" matches. The final of the tournament will be held in Lahore on Jan 29. There was no mention of the details of the prize money of the event. -APP
