KARACHI: Anti-obscenity campaign launched by Pemra


KARACHI, Jan 5: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Sindh Region has launched a province-wide campaign against cables operators , relaying obscene channels showing pornographic movies, mujras, (MM, MM2, M-Net and Series etc) and against illegal cable TV operators.

According to a press release on Wednesday, Pemra teams conducted raids on the second day of its campaign on Jan 05 in District Dadu, Larkana, Nau Dero, Sukkur and Naushero Feroz.

The teams seized head ends and also confiscated equipment of illegal/default CTV operators. Pemra has directed all the illegal Cable TV Operators of Sindh Region to get themselves registered with Pemra and obtain license for their cable TV immediately in order to avoid any further legal action.

The regulating authority has further informed the subscribers/viewers that they could contact on phone number 111-736-111 and at email rgm-khi@pemra.gov.pk to lodge complaints against CTV operators/FM Radio and Satellite TV Channels for poor service or any violations/misconduct. -PPI
