KASUR, Jan 5: Two Lesco officials were killed while five others, including two girls, sustained injuries in a road accident on Wednesday on the Ferozepur Road near the shrine of Hazrat Baba Shah Kamal Chishti.

Reports said a Kasur-bound rickshaw (LZ-6741) was hit by a speeding Ganda Singhwala-bound truck (MNB-1276). The truck fell in a ditch as a result Lesco lineman Mohammad Amjad and assistant lineman Mohammad Ramzan were killed on the spot while Mohammad Hayat, Nazir Ahmad, Mohammad Faisal, Sakina (11) and Fauzia sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to the DHQ hospital.

TWO KILLED: A coachman and a woman were killed while two others sustained injuries on Wednesday when 322 Down Pakpattan-bound train hit a tonga at an unmanned level-crossing near Basti Qutab Shah, Kanganpur.

Police said coachman Karamat Ali could not judge the speed of the train while attempting to cross over the track. As a result, Karamat and passenger Zubaida Bibi died instantly while Zahoor Ahmad and Sheema Bibi received serious injuries. They were admitted to a local hospital. Later, Zubaida Bibi was shifted to a Lahore hospital in critical condition. The horse was also killed. - Correspondent
