ARD plans summit in Lahore on 11th

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Jan 4: Heads of the component parties of the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy are likely to meet in Lahore on January 11 discuss out a strategy about the opposition's ongoing protest movement.

This was announced by ARD's Secretary General Iqbal Zafar Jhagra in a statement here on Tuesday. Mr Jhagra said that the meeting would be held at the residence of Pakistan Muslim League-N leader MNA Tehmina Daultana at 10am and it would be presided over by ARD chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim.

A source told Dawn that all major opposition leaders were expected to be present in Lahore to attend the wedding ceremony of Tehmina Daultana's son in the evening.

The source said that the ARD leaders would also discuss the possibility of formation of a grand alliance with the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal besides finalizing the schedule for the second round of anti-Musharraf public meetings.

The schedule is likely to be announced after another ARD meeting in Sargodha expected to be held on Jan 14. The meeting, he said, would be held at the residence of former finance minister Ihsanul Haq Paracha prior to a public meeting in Sargodha.
