APNS appeal hearing adjourned

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Jan 4: The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned for Jan 6, a review petition filed by the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) against the Seventh Wage Board Award for newspaper employees.

Advocate-on-record M. S. Khattak appeared before a two-member Bench, comprising Justice Rana Bhagwandas and Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, with a request to delay the matter for a few weeks as legal counsel of the APNS, Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, had some engagements in the Sindh High Court.

Justice Rana Bhagwandas observed that this was not a valid ground for adjournment and decided to hear the case on Thursday. Justice Rana Bhagwandas was heading the court in the absence of Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.

Senior counsel Akram Sheikh, representing newspaper employees requested the court for early hearing of the review petition saying the APNS lawyer Hafeez Pirzada had also submitted a request for general adjournment starting from Jan 7.
