JUP wing convenes all-party talks

By Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Jan 2: The JUP-Nifaze Shariat has announced convening of an all-party conference to take up a five-point agenda on Jan 16.

At a press conference here on Sunday, Engrr Saleemullah Khan, the party chief, said the APC would take a decision for launching a countrywide movement for 'annihilating' the army government, making the Quran and the Sunnah supreme law, blocking amendment to the blasphemy law, inclusion of religion column in passports and eliminating usury-based economic system for eradicating poverty.

He regretted that the opposition parties were not taking cognizance of the situation, which had developed owing to Gen Musharraf's 'anti-state' and 'anti-Islam' policies. They were rather becoming part of a power game, he alleged.

He also alleged that PPP's Asif Zardari immediately after his release had demanded new elections, giving the indication that his party was ready to accept Gen Musharraf as constitutional president. While the MMA was canalizing its energies on the uniform issue instead of enforcement of Shariat, he added.
