HYDERABAD, Jan 2: Employees of Dadu and Thatta sugar mills staged a joint march from the Haider chowk to the press club on Sunday in protest against non-payment of golden handshake and other dues.
Speaking on the occasion, union leaders Asad Shah, Sahib Khoso, Wali Jakhro and Allah Bachayo Panhwar said the two mills had been closed without any rhyme or reason and over 2,500 employees of the two mills had been rendered jobless.
They said the sugar mills in the public sector in Punjab and NWFP were still functioning. They said SRTC and KTC employees had been given golden handshake whereas 150 employees of the Sindh Sugar Corporation had been adjusted in other departments but employees of Dadu and Thatta Sugar Mills had not only been deprived of golden handshake but also other legal dues.
