Opponents of progress lack political insight: CM

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Jan 1: People opposing progress lack political insight and are incapable of resolving people's problems and are only trying to mislead people against mega projects and impede development efforts, says Chief Minister Jam Mohammad Yousuf.

A statement issued here on Friday quoted him as saying that opposition parties should cooperate with the government in implementing development schemes. He said that these projects would remove poverty, adding that the province had been ignored in economic activities by past successive governments.

The chief minister criticized nationalist political groups and said that confrontational attitude had always harmed the province's interests.

Mr Yousuf said that major issues affecting Balochistan, included provision of jobs, basic amenities and poverty, adding that employment, education, healthcare and poverty alleviation were all linked with economic progress.

Lauding the president and prime minister's efforts for launching major projects, including the Gwadar port, said that these schemes would provided a solid base for the province's economic growth.

He criticized people opposing development projects in the province.
