GUJRAT: Policemen hurt by villagers

GUJRAT, Dec 30: Five policemen and three others were injured when a police party was attacked by villagers on Thursday at Channu Bhoja, Lalamusa.

Reports said Lalamusa city police, on a tip-off, conducted a raid at the house of proclaimed offender Sajjad in the limits of Saddar police and arrested him.

Meanwhile, his family members along with villagers attacked the police team with clubs and axes. As a result, sub-inspector Mian Riaz, ASIs Niaz Ahmed and Iqbal, constables Zaheer and Muzaffar sustained injuries while three relatives of the PO were also injured in the clash. However, the police succeeded in arresting Sajjad. No case had been registered by the Saddar Lalalmusa police.
