MANSEHRA: MPA wants Hazara's share in royalty

By Our Correspondent

MANSEHRA, Dec 30: The PML MPA from tribal belt of Kala Dhaka, Zar Gul Khan, has demanded that the provincial government give Hazara its share from the royalty on electricity produced at the Tarbela Dam.

Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, he said that he had filed a resolution in this regard with the speaker of NWFP Assembly which would come up for debate in the forthcoming session of the assembly.

He said that the people of Hazara division had rendered great sacrifices at the time of Tarbela Dam's construction. It was ironical that the provincial government did not pay a single penny to the Hazara division from the Rs6 billion it received every year from the federal government in royalty on electricity generated by the dam, he added.

He said the people of Hazara, especially those of Kala Dhaka, had been kept backward by depriving them of the benefits of mega projects like Tarbela. Mr Khan said that he had also filed two privilege motions with the NWFP speaker for his grievances against some government departments.

While approving schools and roads for various parts of the province, the education department and the National Highway Authority (NHA) had ignored Kala Dhaka.
