Thai police deployed to stop looting

BANGKOK, Dec 29: Hundreds of extra police have been sent to a Thai district battered by tidal waves to suppress a wave of looting in the wake of the disaster, a senior officer said on Wednesday.

Up to 600 police have been sent to Phang Nga, the province worst-hit by the waves, said provincial police chief. He told AFP that so far 13 Myanmar migrant workers have been arrested. -AFP
