ISLAMABAD, Dec 29: The British Council will assist the federal education ministry in assessing education standards in the country, says a press release.

A contract in this regard will be signed between the British Council and the federal education ministry here on Thursday.

Dr Tom Craig-Cameron, Director British Council, and Mohammad Zahid Khan, Joint Educational Advisor, education ministry, will sign the contract. The council will provide technical assistance to the ministry's National Education Assessment System (NEAS) Project for four years.

Under the project, the ministry will carry out sample-based national assessments at class IV and VIII levels in four subjects: language, mathematics, general science and social studies/Islamiat/life skills.
