MIRPURKHAS: Rs1bn Madressah programme

MIRPURKHAS, Dec 29: Sindh secretary of education Mohammad Hashim Laghari has said that Rs1 billion has been allocated for launching of the Madressah school programme in Sindh and students would also be taught English , social studies and computer.

He was presiding over a meeting of officers of the education department at the EDO education office here on Wednesday. The meeting reviewed different on-going programmes in district, efforts for improving better and promotion of education.

He informed that monitoring teams had been formed for improving educational system, which would pay surprise visits to examine performance of educational institutions. He said that computer centres were being set up in 3,654 schools so that modern education could be provided to students.

He said that subjects of science and mathematics would be taught in English from class VI while English would be included in class-I. He said that textbooks from class-I to VI were being provided to students free of cost whereas scholarship and annual stipends were given to girl students.

He said that adult education centres were being established for male and female students and stipend would be given to them. The DCO of Mirpurkhas informed that Rs40 million were being utilized for repairs and renovation of educational institutions. EDO education Haji Khan Rahu spoke about the performance of the education department.

LINING OF WATERCOURSES: Seventy-one watercourses of Mirpurkhas taluka, Digri and Kot Ghulam Muhammad would be lined in the district with a cost of Rs46 million. This was disclosed by Mirpurkhas DCO Mohammad Siddique Memon while presiding over a meeting here on Wednesday to review on-going lining work of watercourses.

The DCO advised the growers of the district to come forward for lining of their watercourses and get benefit of the government scheme.
