KARACHI, Dec 29: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Karachi has expressed its deep concern over sale of chemical ginger in open market causing serious health hazards.

In a statement on Wednesday, General Secretary, Dr Qaisar Sajjad, said it had come to the knowledge of the PMA that imported ginger was being washed through chemicals like Sulphuric Acid, Hydrochloric Acid, Bleach etc., casing severe health problems.

" Ginger is very widely used in our food and chemically absorbed ginger can cause serious problems in human gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and other parts of body just like slow poison," he added. He demanded concerned authorities to look into the matter urgently and take prompt steps to stop selling this chemically absorbed ginger. -PPI
