By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 28: The wanted underworld don, Shoaib Khan, was arrested on Tuesday in Lahore, and is likely to be brought to the city by Wednesday morning.

DSP Aslam Khan told Dawn over his cell phone from Lahore, that a police party was dispatched to Lahore on a credible information about the presence of Shoaib Khan.

The party put a close watch on the suspect, and after it was established that he was the wanted criminal, the police raided his hideout. DSP Irfan Bahadur, who was also a member of the raiding party, said that the police arrested Shoaib Khan in a raid at a house in Defence area of the city. "We are bringing him back to Karachi, and will hopefully be there by tomorrow (Wednesday) morning," the DSP added.

The police believed Shoaib Khan was involved in various criminal activities. More than two months back, the police had failed to arrest him in a raid at his residence here as he escaped from the spot.

Since then, the police had been conducting raids at various places to arrest him. Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad lauded the Sindh Home minister, police officials and personnel concerned for arresting Shoaib Khan, PPI adds.

He said services of police, Rangers, and other law-enforcement agencies were highly appreciable for combating crimes and criminals, safeguarding lives, and property of masses. He hoped that coordinated efforts would continue for elimination of street crimes, gambling and narcotics dens.
