LARKANA, Dec 27: A delegation of Sindhi writers from India visited the Indus valley civilization site of Moenjodaro and attended a reception in Larkana on Sunday.
The reception was jointly organized by a private TV channel and the Sindh Fankar Welfare Trust.
Former Lok Sabha member Suresh Keswani led the delegation. Speaking on the occasion, they said exchange of delegations between India and Pakistan was a must as it would help assist in understanding each other.
Vocalists and poets from both sides of the border presented their compositions on the occasion. Leader of opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Nisar Khuhro, MPA Ayaz Soomro and others attended the reception. The guests were presented traditional gifts of Ajrak and caps. The delegation also called on the communist leader, Sobho Gianchandani.
DADU: A peace caravan, comprising over 40 Sindhi writers and poets from India, arrived here on Sunday night after visiting Moenjodaro. The caravan was led by Suresh Keswani, and Lachman Komal. Earlier, they visited the shrine of Shaheed Makhdoom Bilawal in the Dadu taluka.
Hundreds of Dadu town residents welcomed the caravan at the DPO Chowk where they had set up a reception camp. The Sindh Graduate Association, Khudabad chapter, had also established a reception camp in the Khudabad town on the Dadu-Sehwan road.
The group also visited the shrine of Hazrat Qalandar Lal Shahbaz and laid floral wreaths. Talking to gatherings at the Dadu gymkhana and on the Indus Highway in Khudabad, Suresh Keswani, Komallalani and Lachhman Komal said Sindh was their motherland but they had to leave Sindh on the basis of religion. They said they were feeling jubilant to visit Sindh.
They hoped that Pakistan and India would have friendly relations in future. They said the culture of Pakistani Sindhis and Indian Sindhis was the same. They also visited Sann, where Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement leader Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah received them. Later, they left for the Keenjhar Lake in Thatta district.
