KARACHI, Dec 27: Hundreds of thousands of people showed up at the Expo Centre in Gulshan-i-Iqbal where "All About Lifestyles", a three-day exhibition sponsored by the Dawn Group of Newspapers, concluded on Sunday.
Organizers said that over three days the exhibition had been visited by around 300,000 people, mostly families who had taken a great deal of interest in a wide array of consumer goods being displayed there.
They added that the exhibition had been held in Islamabad at the Convention Centre from Dec 11-12 and in Lahore at the Expo Centre of Fortress Stadium from Dec 18-19.
They said the major crowd-puller on Sunday was the dog show at which 85 dogs competed with one another for much-coveted prizes, including "Best working dog", "Best gun dog", "Best terrier", etc. The "All breed championship dog show" was organized in collaboration with the Kennel Club of Pakistan.
The Golconda Trophy was won by a mastiff (Baghira). A dachshund (Dorysa) won the "Best in the show" award while Chiang walked off with the "Best puppy in the show" award. The organizers said a total of 165 stalls had been set up in the four halls of the Expo Centre by at least 144 companies showcasing their products.
The companies taking part in the exhibition include consumer electronics, interiors, insurance, Internet service providers, IT-related products and services, home appliances, banks, financial services, travel and tourism, fashion, cosmetics, edibles and consumer goods.
Other than special pavilions of the "Books and Authors", "Images" and "Young World", a food court on the premises of the Expo Centre attracted a large number of visitors.
On Saturday a "Feline fiesta" contest was organized in which cats won prizes in various categories, such as "best desi cat", "best whiskers", "best eyes", "best owner look-alike", etc.
