He made this appeal during a meeting with a seven-member Indian delegation of fishermen, led by Prem Bhai Modi, who met him in Edhi's office. He appealed to President Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to issue orders for the immediate release of the fishermen and allow them to go to their respective countries.

Mr Edhi offered to bear the expenses for sending the fishermen to their homes. According to a press release, Mr Modi appreciated efforts of the Edhi Foundation for getting released the Indian fishermen arrested for violation of sea limits.
