LAHORE: Action against revenue officials ordered

LAHORE, Dec 24: Punjab Ombudsman Abdul Rasheed Khan on Friday directed the board of revenue senior member to take action against a tehsildar, gardawar and a patwari of a constituency under the Punjab Removal from Services (Special Powers) Ordinance 2000.

The ombudsman passed the order on the complaint of Muhammad Nawaz, who submitted that he had moved an application to the officials concerned for transfer of land of his paternal aunt in his name.

He said his aunt had no grandson, but the respondent officials transferred half of the land to another person showing him as the grandson of the deceased. Nawaz submitted that he had paid Rs15,000 for transfer of land as bribe and the remaining amount was to be paid after the transfer of the land.

The Pindi Bhattian tehsildar, while appearing before the ombudsman, did not accept allegations. The ombudsman, however, ruled that according to the record Ahmad Mehmood, the other holder of the land, was neither a grandson of the property owners nor heir to the deceased. -APP
