Eight AL women injured in blast

DHAKA, Dec 24: At least eight activists of the Sylhet unit of Awami League's women's wing were wounded in a bomb explosion at the residence of an ex-lawmaker in Sylhet on Friday.

The Sylhet unit of Awami League called a dawn-to-dusk strike on Sunday in protest against the incident.

The injured included Asma Kamran, wife of the Sylhet city mayor Badruddin Ahmed Kamran, Syeda Huq, the president of the organisation, its general secretary Rubi Fatema Islam, also the corporation woman ward commissioner, and Shahanara Khatun, Biva Rani Dhar, Joytunnessa, Salma Basit, and Madhuri Goon.
