NEW DELHI, Dec 23: A nine-member parliamentary delegation from Pakistan, headed by National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain, on Thursday called on Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
Dr Singh expressed the hope that exchange of parliamentary delegations between the two countries would help improve relations and consolidate the peace process. Mr Hussain conveyed a goodwill message to Mr Singh on behalf of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
The speaker said he looked forward to the prime minister's visit to Pakistan. Later, the speaker called on Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam at the Rashtrapati Bhawan and conveyed to him a goodwill message of President Pervez Musharraf.
Mr Hussain, visiting India at the invitation of Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, then met Vice-President and Chairman Rajya Sabha Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. During the meeting, it was noted that Pakistan and India were heading towards peaceful resolution of all issues, including the Kashmir problem. -APP
